Last summer, Sam and I started Couch to 5 K: a running program, which is basically self explanatory based on the name… it takes you off the couch and gradually works you into running a 5K over 9 weeks. However we made the mistake of starting late in the summer and then it got cold and let’s face it…we got lazy and didn’t want to run. We were in week 7 out of the 9 weeks…SO CLOSE! I was running 2.2 miles straight…just a mile short of a 5K, which is more than I had ever run before, so I know it works. We started this weekend again (nice and early this year) so we’ll have good routines and be finished with the program while it’s still nice out. And we hope to actually run a 5K race in the area when we’re done. We’ve only done 2 days so far, but I hope we can keep it up! I always think running looks so relaxing, but have never been a “natural” runner. Hopefully this will help. Then maybe by the winter I will enjoy running more and continue to do it even though it’s cold (here’s to hoping anyway).
I’ll keep everyone posted on our progress. Today we finished Week 1 Day 2 (it’s a 3 days/week run of various intervals). Go us!
