Summer has finally begun sort of?

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I am officially finished with my summer classes! I received an A+ in Human Development and I do not know my grade in Ethics yet because the professor went on vacation, but I am not too worried about it. Now I am working full time as a dog walker. It’s going okay, but THIS RAIN IN MASSACHUSETTS! It is ridiculous! At least today was a nice sunny day, but I wasn’t expecting it so I dressed for dreary weather and ended up being hot. I just can’t win. Hopefully it will finally be more like summer now.

I am housesitting again right now. There are 3 dogs this time, but they are all such sweethearts!! Easy to take care of too, so it is nice. On Tuesday I am going to visit Samm for a week! I cannot wait! I haven’t seen him in a month…it feels like forever. And it will be just the two of us, which we don’t get that often, so I’m definitely looking forward to it. Then I will come back and do some more housesitting and dog walking until school starts in September…getting there.

Speaking of school I received a lot more information from them. I start classes September 8th, at 7AM sharp. I have to be there on time (obviously) in my full nursing uniform and name tag. My Tuesday class is only from 7-10AM though, so it will be a short first day, but that’s probably good so I can wrap my head around everything. I also got info about orientation on August 18th. It wasn’t very specific, so basically it seems like we’ll be meeting a lot of people with the other graduate programs and then breaking off into our specific programs for more talk. I’m still excited! I can’t wait to meet everyone! I also FINALLY got some more specifics about the PDA that I need. I am going to get the Ipod Touch. I’m buying it this weekend, so I will be sure to post about how I like it–do a little review on it and then again after I use it in clinicals. I’ve heard good things so far. The one other thing I got in the package was…homework?! Haha it’s not so bad actually. I need to do a few math problems before my first day of classes, but it’s all review–math with fractions, rounding decimals, conversions, etc. Not too bad. I think the conversions would be the hardest for some people, but since I was a chemistry major I am a pro! I also bought a math book and I need to go over the first 4 chapters for the first week of school because apparently I have a test. They waste no time!

Other things nursing school related that I did on my own is I bought my nursing shoes–Dansko Sienna clogs. I love them already. I’ve been wearing them around my house so that I can break them in. They are comfy :) I bought a watch with a second hand–just a cheap one. I got my PPD (tuberculosis) test, which I got read today and was negative. So that was the last step I needed before I could send in my health forms–did that today. And I got certified in CPR for the Healthcare Provider on Wednesday. I should be receiving my card sometime next week. I feel so productive. Next step–math homework + buy PDA and software. I’ll let you know how that goes.

In blog news, I have finally updated my info. Not too much just that I graduated and that I’m now 22! I also added the Nurse/Nursing Student Blogs I LOVE to Read links in my sidebar. I have to give those ladies credit…they have been such an inspiration to me so far. I hope to add more blogs too as I become more of a footprint in the blogging world. Then I also finally added graduation pics. I added them to the post about graduation, so scroll down for those!

Happy 4th of July Everyone!!

~love always~
